BECOMING AN ICDA MEMBER
Our Mission and Purpose Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc. exists to serve choral musicians in the state of Iowa by providing leadership, guidance and support, offering continuing education opportunities, promoting excellence in the choral art through high quality offerings and events, supporting education and growth beyond college graduation, and enriching and renewing the musical souls of its membership.
ICDA's 900+ members are choral conductors at every level of learning from pre-school to adult and they make music with a wide variety of choruses. ICDA is regarded nationally as a leader among state ACDA organizations in providing opportunities for growth and development for all those dedicated to choral music. ICDA is an affiliate of the American Choral Directors Association, one of the largest professional organizations for choral directors in the world with a membership of approximately 17,000 directors representing one million singers.
OUR MENTORING PROGRAM
ICDA’s mentor program matches new educators with an experienced observation mentor. At the summer symposium, ICDA district chairs attempt to identify the mentees in their district, and find active mentors for all of them. Hopefully, each new teacher in our mentor program will have an observation mentor who can visit them at their school, and an active mentor who can stay in communication with them about events and procedures.
If you are a new teacher, or interested in becoming a mentor, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. CLICK HERE for more information about our Mentoring Program and the Fall Symposium for 1st Year Arts Educators, as well as where you can download handbooks to get you started.
