SAVE THE DATE! SYMPOSIUM 2016
July 25-28, 2016

Hosted by David Heupel, Symposium2016@iowachoral.org

The planning for our 2016 Symposium is well underway, as we attempt to answer the call as we try to achieve success for all! Performances and sessions are being scheduled to inspire you as you answer the call for your students and choir members.

Some of our performance highlights will include Groove for Thought, the Pacific Northwest jazz ensemble who appeared on the 2010 season of "The Sing Off," and the 2007 ACDA National Convention in Miami; Vox Humana, a Dallas-based 24-voice professional choir directed by composer David Childs, Central Standard, a men's a cappella ensemble from Kansas City. The Iowa All-State Jazz Choir will perform, directed by Jeremy Fox, as will Mason City's own ensemble, Una Vocis, and the midwest's premiere retired choir!

Presenters at our symposium will include Dale Duncan of In the Middle with Mr. D, composer David Childs, laryngologist Lesley Childs (vocal health), Iowa's own Dr. Edie Copley, Sarah Wigley-Johnson of the University of Illinois, Shelby Van Nordstrand of the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Aaron Hansen with elementary techniques, Jeremy Manternach and David Puderbaugh of the University of Iowa, Dennis Hendrickson, Joel Everist, Brent Petersen and Steve Woodin on All-State audition preparation, as well as sessions on the Opus process and the all-state reading session, and a number of reading sessions and roundtables.

Along with social events chaired by Boe Hodnefield and Rachel Wragge, and some morning kick-off sessions you won't want to miss, the 2016 Symposium will truly include fun and Success for All!
