As the newly appointed ICDA representative for Youth and Student Activities on the Board, I want to introduce myself to those of you I’ve not met.  My name is Arla Clausen and I have taught 28 years in the public schools and now in my third year as the music chair and director of choirs at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA.  I have also served as the Southwest Iowa district representative for ICDA and served on the district advisory group for Iowa High School Music Association, and had the great honor of directing one of the Opus choirs in 2004.  My mission is contacting other colleges and universities in nominating future choral directors to attend our summer convention (expenses are covered by ICDA, except for their transportation).

Attention all choral music departments in colleges and universities
Don’t forget to nominate your future music instructors to attend our summer convention, July 22 – 26. Deadline is May 11th
- Students will be notified June 1, 2007 if they have been selected
-  Students will be expected to attend the entire convention and participate in assigned duties
- At the completion of convention all students are required to send me a typed 2 page paper on what they observed and benefited from the convention
