Kyrie is the opening movement from the larger work Missa brevis in G by Vytautas Miskinis.  This beautiful setting of the liturgical Latin text features fluid melodic lines and rich tonal sonorities.  The use of imitation is also a central aspect of the composition.  The composer describes the phrasing and melodic approach as “free and delicate, but sometimes impulsive.”  This piece would be a great addition to your spring concert repertoire or contest literature.
