Our Mission and Purpose
Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc. exists to serve choral musicians in the state of Iowa by providing leadership,
guidance and support, offering continuing education opportunities, promoting excellence in the choral art through high quality offerings and
events, supporting education and growth beyond college graduation, and enriching and renewing the musical souls of its membership.
ICDA's 1000+ members are choral conductors
at every level of learning from pre-school to adult and they make music
with a wide variety of choruses. ICDA is regarded nationally
as a leader among state ACDA organizations in providing opportunities
for growth and development for all those dedicated to choral music. ICDA is an affiliate of the American Choral Directors Association,
one of the largest professional organizations for choral directors in
the world with a membership of approximately 17,000 directors representing
one million singers.

5-29-2008 HELP TORNADO VICTIMS It is time to come together to help a fellow choral music director in our state. As many of you well know, a very powerful tornado hit the town of Parkersburg leveling over 200 houses, the only grocery store, the only gas station, and the High School. Greg Wessel, the choir director at the High School, has been a member of ICDA and we need to step up to the plate to help out our friend. During the convention this summer, we will be collecting some items to help him re-build his choral music department. We are looking for donations from fellow choir directors and/or schools. PLEASE (ASK FIRST) consider donating music, robes, used pianos, used risers, or anything you can think of to help out.
While it will be many months before the High School can be re-built, school will probably be in some alternative place in the Applington-Parkersburg area at the beginning of the school year. We need to make sure that the music department is no exception. While there is no storage right now for these items, Matt and I are hoping to collect “Letters of Intent” at the convention. It will require an administrative signature in order to donate. Please DO NOT donate "junk" music, broken or stained items.
At this time, we do not know, what the school's insurance will replace or cover. It may very well replace all of these items. However, for that to happen by the first day of school is an unlikely situation. Items can also be "on loan" until Greg and his department can get back on their feet.
Your “Letter of Intent” should list the possible item(s) that your school would like to donate or loan to Applington-Parkersburg School District along with your signature and an administrator’s signature from your school.Contact Jennifer Wagner or Matt Huth with questions.
