OUTSTANDING PERFORMERS SHOWCASE

CELEBRATING STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Since the spring of 1989, ICDA’s Outstanding Performer’s Showcase has existed to celebrate the accomplishments of students achieving the prestigious “Best of Center” through the Iowa High School Music Association’s Solo and Small Ensemble Festival.

Where:  The Showcase is held in the Music Hall on the campus of Iowa State University. Click here for a map
The day will feature two centers for the vocalists.  There will also be two additional centers to feature the instrumental students who received “Best of Center” honors as well.  The Iowa Bandmasters Association sponsors the instrumental portion of this event.

Students and teachers are encouraged to stay and support the other performers throughout the day.  At the conclusion of the morning session – vocal participants will be part of an awards ceremony and a brief concert.  Students that perform in the afternoon session are invited to arrive early to attend the midday concert.

When:  Historically, Outstanding Performers Showcase happens the Tuesday following IHSMA’s Large Group Festival.

Scholarship – The School Administrators of Iowa sponsors a scholarship to the top senior performance of the day.  The scholarship amount is determined annually. Their performance will be recording and judged at a later date.  The School Administrators of Iowa will notify the winner.

Thoughts for the day:
1.  There is no time limit.  Students can perform their selection in its entirety.
2.  Warm-up rooms are available in the lower level of the Music Hall.
3.  No judge’s copies are needed.
4.  Accompanists will be provided upon request.
5.  There is no fee for schools to participate.
6.  Students should dress professionally.
