CHORAL POSITIONS OPEN
- 5-26-2010 Valley Southwoods is seeking a 9th grade only high school choir director in West Des Moines. Class size is generally aroung 650 students, give or take, and next year's enrollment in choir is just shy of 150. There are two curricular choirs, Treble Clef and Bass Clef Chorus, and a select chamber choir, Southwoods Singers (auditioned, meets every other day). The 9th grade director is also responsible for the extra curricular 9th grade jazz choir, Syncopation, and is asked to assist (on a limited basis) at the beginning of the school year with show choir sectionals. There is a full time accompanist that is shared between Southwoods and Valley. This is a fantastic job with great kids, VERY SUPPORTIVE administration, really excellent band and orchestra directors, and it's in a great community. - 5-1-2010 East Buchanan Community School District is looking for a highly energetic teacher to continue the growth of the 6th-12th grade Vocal Music program. The successful candidate needs to have a strong vocal music background. Some limited piano skills would be beneficial. The successful candidate must have the ability to work closely with other members of the faculty. Duties would include large group chorus, solo/ensemble work as well as a talent show. Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts occur. Involvement with the Fine Arts boosters is important. This position may also be combined with play director.
