Welcome to the Northeast District ICDA webpage!
My name is Janet Helgerson and this will be my third year as the Northeast District Representative for ICDA. The Iowa Choral Directors Association is a wonderful resource that exists to serve you, the choral musician and educator. Please take full advantage of the many opportunities that exist for you and your students.

I am the vocal director at Valley Community School, a 1A school in the scenic northeast corner of the state. I have been teaching for 26 years, all of those at Valley. Although I have taught music at all grade levels, I currently teach general music for grades 5 & 6, conduct the 7-12 choirs, high school voice lessons, the Valley Madrigal Singers, the Valley Show Choir, and co-direct the fall musical. I am a graduate of Luther College with a BA in Music Education, and I serve as a church organist and as an advisor with the Iowa Ambassadors of Music. I am married with three grown children.
