ICDA is pleased again to sponsor the fifteenth annual Iowa All-State Jazz Choir under the direction of Bruce Rogers. Professor Bruce Rogers is the Director of Choral Activities at Mt. San Antonio College, where he oversees the department's various vocal and choral programs. He directs Mt. San Antonio College's award-winning Chamber Singers and the elite vocal jazz ensemble, Singcopation. Between twelve to twenty high school jazz choir singers will be chosen to participate in this event.
Rehearsals will begin on Saturday, July 21 and culminate with a concert given in conjunction with the ICDA Summer Convention at Mason City’s NIACC Campus on Monday, July 23. Two additional rehearsals prior to the All State Jazz Choir Festival will be required. The dates and locations of these rehearsals will be given to the singers upon acceptance into the ensemble.
Any high school student currently participating in their school’s choir is eligible to audition.
Each student selected will be responsible for the cost of their own housing, food, music and rehearsal CD, as well as all registration and entry fees, and any transportation needs. Directors are responsible for chaperoning and transporting their own students or obtaining a designated adult to do so during this event.
