Our Mission and Purpose

Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc. exists to serve choral musicians in the state of Iowa by providing leadership, guidance and support, offering continuing education opportunities, promoting excellence in the choral art through high quality offerings and events, supporting education and growth beyond college graduation, and enriching and renewing the musical souls of its membership.

ICDA's 1000+ members are choral conductors at every level of learning from pre-school to adult and they make music with a wide variety of choruses. ICDA is regarded nationally as a leader among state ACDA organizations in providing opportunities for growth and development for all those dedicated to choral music. ICDA is an affiliate of the American Choral Directors Association, one of the largest professional organizations for choral directors in the world with a membership of approximately 17,000 directors representing one million singers.

Residents of Iowa who join ACDA, also become members of the Iowa chapter, ICDA. If you are interested in membership, simply print and complete the MEMBERSHIP FORM (PDF) and follow its mailing instructions.

All members receive copies of Choral Journal (the monthly national magazine), Melisma (the North Central Division newsletter, published three times a year) and Sounding Board (Iowa's newsletter, published in the months of September, November, February, and May).

Membership is a wonderful opportunity for networking with hundreds of colleagues who are active in the choral art. Our publications and conventions provide members with diverse and practical forums through which we develop and sharpen our professional skills. Why not join today?
