CHORAL POSITIONS OPEN - Fall 2008
- 8-12-2008 Faith Lutheran Church, an ELCA congregation of 2,100 members located in Clive, Iowa, a western suburb of Des Moines, is seeking a Director of Music. The director’s responsibilities include assisting members in developing and using their musical gifts in service to the church; developing instrumental, vocal, Orff, and handbell programs; administering a fine arts program; encouraging participation in a high quality musical experience for individuals of all age groups. - 8-1-2008 Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Adult Church Choir Director position available immediately. The Gloria Dei Adult Choir sings approx. two times per month, a cantata in December, and is very active during holy week. The choir usually performs with orchestra and handbells throughout the year. The group sings at both traditional and traditional-blend services. A variety of choral repertoire is appreciated. This is a fun group and one that can read music well. The music budget has been more than adequate. An accompanist is available for both rehearsals and musical offerings. - 8-1-2008 Monticello Middle School, Long-Term sub position open: first 6 weeks of school. 5-8 vocal music. If not interested in 5/6 general music but would be willing to cover 7th and 8th choirs that could be accomodated. If you know of anyone that is looking to do a long term maternity sub or someone that is a music sub that could help out that would be great. - 7-15-2008 Director of Traditional Music/Choir Director - Salem Lutheran Church of Lake Mills, Iowa, a member of the ELCA, is seeking a self-motivated and organized person with a musical background and expertise to fill this position. Previous choir direction experience and familiarity with ELCA liturgy and hymnody is preferred. This part-time position will require 8 – 10 hours per week year round and would start September 2, 2008.
